Faith Formation (Youth)
Faith Formation for Youth (Grades 6-12) – Mission
Holy Name of Jesus Youth Ministry – Mission Statement
Catholic youth ministry at Holy Name of Jesus parish seeks to serve the family. Knowing that parents are the primary teachers of their children, youth ministry supports and continues to support a strong relationship with Christ through the teenage years by deepening the virtues of faith, hope, and charity. Through our programs and events, with Jesus at the center of our ministry, we work to foster participation in the life of the Church by encouraging the youth to grow as disciples of Christ, participate in the parish community, and grow in holiness and sainthood through prayer and acts of service. Most especially, we emphasize the necessity of living a sacramental life and growing in knowledge of our Catholic Faith, in order to continue to live out the Faith as young adults and into adulthood.
EDGE Youth Ministry (6th-12th grades)
Open to all 6th – 12th grade students from Holy Name Parish. This is a weekly, youth group meeting where you have the opportunity to hang-out with other youth from Holy Name Parish. There are social nights as well as catechetical and issue nights. We meet (almost) every Monday from 4-5:30pm in the Franciscan and Benedictine Rooms just off the Narthex. For the current schedule for the Spring Semester please click here. Please note that dates and topics are subject to change.
To sign a student up for Youth Ministry please download the Registration Form and return it to the parish office or have your child bring it to our meetings.
Ways for Adults to Get Involved
We are always looking for adults who have a desire to share their love of Christ with the youth and become a catechist. Catechists are so important to this ministry that the teachers are called the Core Team. On EDGE Nights, the Core Team works together to make the catechesis and ministry a powerful experience for the youth.
If you are interested in being on our Core Team to help facilitate small group discussion please download the Core Team Registration Form and return it to the parish office. Please note: All Core Team Members must complete the Virtus program and have a background check with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
South Deanery Events
As a part of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church is a part of the Indianapolis South Deanery. All of the Youth Ministry programs at the parishes throughout the South Deanery form “South Deanery Youth Ministry.” Attending the events that the South Deanery offers is a wonderful way to have lots of fun with other youth throughout the South Deanery area.
Every month, a different parish in the South Deanery will host a “South Deanery” event for all 6th, 7th, & 8th graders of the South Deanery. These events are advertized at Holy Name of Jesus, and the youth of this parish are always invited to the events! Some of the events include ice skating, broomball, dances, etc. South Deanery Youth Ministry also has various events for high school students throughout the year.
March For Life – Washington D.C.
This trip is offered through the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, as well as the South Deanery. This is a pilgrimage to Washington D.C. on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Participants attend Mass, pray, and walk in the March for Life, to stand up for the respect of all human life from conception to natural death.
Archdiocesan Homeland Mission (Grades 9 – 12)
This is a mission trip held in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis which serves those in need by making repairs and improvements throughout the Indianapolis community. This is a week of service during the summer.
Bishop Brute Days
Bishop Bruté Days is a retreat for young men, ages 13-17 who are seeking to grow closer to Christ, and who are open to the possibility of a vocation to the priesthood. The retreat will give young men the opportunity to spend three days with the Bishop Bruté college seminarians learning about prayer, service, Scripture, and the awesome gift of our Catholic faith.
These are just some of the many different spiritual opportunities offered by Holy Name & the Archdiocese.
Service Ministries
Various service ministries & projects are offered throughout the year by Holy Name Youth Ministry & the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
