Sacramental Preparations
Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Catholic faith community. Your desire to have your child baptized is a public expression, a promise to actively share your faith with them through your own word and example. As a parish community we pledge to assist you and your child in living out the baptismal promises you have made.
Parents who wish to baptize their child must be registered in the parish. First-time parents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Class prior to the baptism of their child. Classes are quarterly.
Baptisms are typically scheduled on Sundays at 12:45pm (immediately following the 11:30am Mass). Please call the parish office for more information.
First Reconciliation & First Holy Eucharist
Second grade students are prepared during school or religious education classes. Students in third grade through high school meet on a weekly basis from October through April to prepare for this or other sacraments. These classes are in addition to regular religious education classes.
Confirmation
Teens are prepared for Confirmation during their 7th & 8th grade years. Actual Confirmation takes place in the fall of 9th grade. Confirmation education and preparation is overseen by the Youth Ministry office.
Marriage
Marriage is a sacrament in which the couple and God enter into a lifelong, exclusive covenant relationship. Marriage preparation provides an opportunity for the couple to reflect and discern their intent to enter into such a relationship. Married couples are called to witness to faith through their commitment and devotion.
Couples who wish to be married at Holy Name Catholic Church may schedule a wedding date if one or both are registered members of Holy Name parish.
Archdiocesan Policy requires six months of marriage preparation. Preparation will require meeting with the Pastor, assignment to a Sponsor Couple, and attendance at either a Tobit Weekend Retreat or Pre-Cana Retreat.
Weddings are celebrated on most weekends, excluding during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
The first step in marriage preparation is to call the parish office to schedule an initial appointment.
Anointing of the Sick
Like all sacraments, Holy Anointing was instituted by Jesus Christ. The special grace of this sacrament unites a sick person to the passion of Christ providing strength, peace, and the courage to endure in a Christian manner the sufferings of illness. This sacrament is not exclusively for those at the point of death but also encompasses anyone of the faithful facing surgery, sickness, old age, or mental illness.
To schedule an anointing, please call the parish office.
