Clubs & Activities

In an effort to provide further small group and on-on-one tutoring opportunities, Holy Name invites students to participate in A+ Club. With a primary focus on Math and Language Arts skills, students engage in hands-on learning activities while working with one of our certified teaching professionals before or after school.  Facilitators of these tutoring sessions are certified teachers at HNCS.

Students who participate in Art Club meet for workshops to create  projects that extend beyond the daily curriculum. Art Club gives students who wish to pursue their artistic interests an opportunity to enhance skills while learning new techniques and socializing with friends.

Sister Nicolette shares her Rosary making skills with select group of students Rosary Club after school on Wednesdays. They learn how to create beautiful jewelry AND the deep religious meaning of its design.

The Holy Name Band makes beautiful music! Fifth – Eighth graders have the chance to participate in Beginning or Advanced Band. Twice a week, the instructor meets with students to practice newly acquired skills and to further develop their love of and yearning for music. What a treat it is when our Band performs at lunch and at the spring concert at Roncalli High School!

The Children’s Choir, made up of students in Grades 5 – 8, practices weekly during school and bi-weekly after school.  They actively participate in liturgies weekly at school and bi-monthly at Sunday Masses.  Our Children’s Choir performed most recently at the Indiana State Museum and the Arts Garden, and they are already preparing for Christmas 2011!

Lights, Camera, Action!  The HNCS Drama Club consists of students in Grades 3 – 8 who love to perform!  Whether it be a fun little skit written by intermediate students or an entire production such as the Middle School Musical, these thespians write it, act it out, and take care of scenery, staging, and lighting along the way! The Drama Club performed their own rendition of “A Christmas Carol” entitled “A Holy Name Christmas Carol” among other productions.

Media Club Students in Grades 6 – 8 have the opportunity to participate in Media Club. They will interview others, take photos, and put our new Mac Lab to use in preparing for various school-wide events!

Technology Club is another after-school opportunity for students who are interested in learning additional programs, becoming more proficient in technological skills, and/or gaining greater understanding of the immense technologies available. Some students utilize the computer lab, filled with 30 work stations, to complete homework and other assignments during this time as well. Now that we also have 15 MAC laptops, students are engaged in multimedia production of all sorts!

For 6th – 8th graders who wish to deepen their Catholic faith or learn more about Catholicism, we welcome you to join our Theology Club now offered as an elective opposite Choir on Wednesdays! In addition to praying, students learn more about the saints and build vocabulary associated with our faith and study the Catechesis.

Recycling Club!  Thanks to these “Go Green” Giants, our school is making a conscientious effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  These club members take care of emptying recycling bins and promoting an earth-conscientious environment!

Holy Name takes great pride in its Scouts! Boys may begin scouting as early as Kindergarten, enjoying a variety of activities such as pack meetings, camping, and service projects. One Eagle scout even planted the beautiful foliage and created the walkway toward the school flagpole as part of his service project!

Girls and boys at HNCS have abundant opportunities year-round to participate in Holy Name Athletics! To learn more, click on the “Student Athletics” tab.!
