Volunteer Opportunities

Would you be willing to volunteer your time at Holy Name Catholic School? We would love your help! Here are a few ways you can get involved!

Giant GEMS Tutor -

  • Work one-on-one with a student in Math, English, and/or Reading
  • Once a week for no more than one hour
  • Opportunity for adult “Donuts & Dialogue” once a month to learn various teaching strategies

Café Assistance -

  • Food preparation begins at 9 AM; lunches extend from 10:50 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Prepare food for salad bar, serve students their lunches or milk, and/or monitor students during lunch periods

Recess Supervision Assistance -

  • Help supervise students during recess periods (along with a certified teacher)
  • Engage students in various games and activities that are developmentally appropriate

Extended Care Assistance -

  • Extended Care Assistance – (6:30 – 7:30 AM and 3:00 – 5:30 PM)
  • Help supervise students during homework, organized play, and snack periods (under the direction of Extended Care Director)

Classroom Assistance – (during school hours)

  • Assist teacher in clerical duties
  • Assist students in small groups or individually as instructed by the teacher

A+ Club Assistance – (after school from 3 – 4:30 PM)

  • Assist students in small groups or individually as instructed by the teacher
  • Assist office staff with clerical duties, including data input, filing, and researching

Administrative Assistance –

  • Answer telephones during administrative team meetings (under the direction of the administrative assistant or principal)
  • Assist with drafting personal notes to prospective families

Enrollment Solutions –

  • Assist with phone calls to prospective families
  • Assist with mailings to current and prospective families
  • Assist with distributing hat pins or taking photos during quarterly awards programs
  • Under the direction of the principal or Coordinator of Fund Raising and Public Relations

Student Incentive Programs –

  • Document earned ‘Reaching for the SON’ tickets per classroom
  • Assist with “Fleming Shop” as students shop with their “SON” tickets
  • Under the direction of the administrative assistant or principal

Please note that all adults who work with children or in the school setting must complete Virtus Training, which is a program designed to protect God’s children. It is a one-time, three-hour class that can be offered on campus as well as other parish campuses. Follow-up online training is also available.
