THE HISTORY OF HOLY NAME PARISH1907 Pastor Monsignor Killian bought first five lots on which rectory now stands, purchased for $500
1908 Rev. Peter Killian appointed founder and pastor of Blessed
Sacrament Parish on June 24.
1908 Formal dedication of the first rectory chapel on October 4
1908 Parish founding families were Afflick, Brick, Cauley, Gavin, Kuntz, Shannon, Tex, Vondersaar
1918 Church name changed from Blessed Sacrament to Holy Name
1921 Ground broken for the new church-school in August
1922 Cornerstone laid for the new church-school June 4,
Dedication Day – Nov. 5-Church moved to first floor
1922 Holy Name’s first school year with 53 pupils in 2 rooms for grades 1-8
1923 Holy Name’s first graduation class-5 students
1927 Fr. Killian celebrated his Silver Anniversary of Priesthood
1933 Twenty-fifth anniversary of Holy Name Parish
1935 Building addition of rooms to the church-school
1939 Fr. Killian appointed as Domestic Prelate by Pope Pius XII
1941 Monsignor Killian observed his 39 th anniversary of ordination
1943 Monsignor Killian died on January 24
1943 Father John Patterson appointed pastor of Holy Name on June 25
1951 New Convent building completed in September
1951 Father Patterson died in August
1951 Father Robert Hartman appointed pastor
1953 The rectory was moved and the new church cornerstone was
laid on November 15
1953 Holy Name Society formed (Men’s Club)1953 School facilities were increased by converting the temporary church and
living quarters of the sisters and the addition of a new wing to include 18 rooms, and increase of 13 from the 5 in 1935
1954 Dedication of the new Holy Name Church on November 1 by Archbishop Schulte
1957 Building additions to Holy Name School and an all purpose room-cafeteria
1958 Golden Jubilee of Holy Name Parish
1961 Another addition to the school facility built
1964 Addition of the Benedictine Novitiate
1965 Holy Name school population at its peak with 963 enrollments
1971 Father Hartman celebrated 40 years as a Priest and 20 years as Holy Name Pastor
1972 Holy Name Athletic Association established
1977 Father Hartman retired in June and the south wing cafetorium renamed as Hartman Hall
1977 Father Hartman died in November
1977 Father James Wilmoth named Pastor of Holy Name
1982 The Society of St. Vincent De Paul formed at Holy Name Parish
1983 Diamond Anniversary celebration of Holy Name Parish
2003 Convent torn down
2003 New Parish office building added at Main St. and 17 th Ave.
2004 50 th Anniversary of the Church building
2004 Parish Life Center Dedication by Archbishop Daniel Buechlein
2005 Youth Ministry introduced at Holy Name
2006 May 5, 1st “Angels Among Us Award”
2007 June, Holy Name celebrates 100th Anniversary
2008 Rev. Stan Pondo received notification of permanent assignment to Holy Name
2008 Rev. Stan Pondo announced and introduced Fr. Aaron Jenkins as the Associate Pastor of Holy Name
2009 Rev. William Williams appointed pastor of Holy Name
2016 Rev. Robert J. Robeson appointed pastor of Holy Name -
